Professional Summary

I am currently workIing as an RN in High Risk Labor and Delivery at University of Louisville Hospital. I will have been there 9 years on October 4,2013. Many of the high risk patients are transferred from the private hospitals to our unit. I maintain a strong reputation for achieving high levels of patient satisfaction. When a patient is initially in my care, I register her in bed control and obtain admission information for our unit. I am a labor nurse for vaginal deliveries. All charting is done electronically on WatchChild at bedside. All medical orders are put in and taken off CPOE; electronic charting. As nurses, we will put in verbal orders electronically. I work in our 4 bed triage unit on the L & D unit. I prep patients for OR and work as circulating nurse for Cesarean Sections, D&Cs, Bilateral Tubal Ligations, etc, then recover them. I work Antepartum and Post-Partum. Kangaroo Care is promoted on our unit so unless the infant is pre-term or has complications, the infant is in my care for 2+ hours where I do the initial baby assessment, breastfeeding is encouraged, and then mother/baby are transferred to the Post-Partum unit.
