From the time I graduated high school, I've been working as a security guard. I been a security guard from almost three years now, from March 2010 to today. I took a course of Industrial and Engineering Technology back in high school because I wanted to be an engineer in designing buildings and roads.
I want to work at P&R Water Taxis because I want to start on a different career that I can help support my wife and our baby on the way. I may not know how to weld, but I know I can do hard labor duties. I can learn how to do different jobs quickly. Also I grew up in a country where you see the ocean everywhere. I learned little bit how to navigate through reefs and drive a boat. I grew up in the ocean and I want to work in the ocean. I know P&R provides that kind of job I know I will enjoy to do everyday.
My only accomplishment I have was graduating from high school. I plan to go back to school at a community college and start a career in the medical field or engineering field. I want to work for now and save up for that and to support my family as much as I can.
At HPA, I was a security guard. Our main account was at Matson Terminals at pier 52. I would be posted at the main gate, my job was to sign in private vehicles, and vendors. Also I was to make sure that the truckers have a TWIC card before they could come in to pick up or drop off containers. My other job or duty was to drive around the yard to drop off the Stevedores at their brake room, and patrol the perimeters. I was posted at the gangways too. My job there was to check in everybody who came on the ship.
My job is to work at the front gates of each pier at Honolulu Harbor. I am to check in vehicles, and also people who walk on to the piers or ride their bicycles. I also have to do vehicle inspections every five or six vehicles according to the MARSEC level.
