I am blessed to be a nurse, a patient advocate, and a care taker! I am very well organized and forward thinking in patient management/needs. I am compassionate and very driven. Im a critical thinker and I am never against learning something new. I participate in continuing education often and am always trying to gain knowledge. I make mistakes but never chew my cabbage twice. I learn from any situation I do not preform 110% in. I take accountability and improve. I am eager to work and I work very well with others. I love people and I love to effectively communicate in order to build a proper nurse-patient relationship.
As a school nurse traveling to all areas of the county in which I live I have worked at many different schools with students ranging in ages from 3years old-19. I have learned how to independently work and really use my critical thinking skills while in this specific field because we are alone as the only healthcare provider on site. You have set standard orders for most things from a physician but in an event such as an emergency- head injury, seizure, syncope, psychiatric crisis, child abuse, diabetic crisis, asthma related complications, substance abuse and so much more. Thinking quickly and effectively is the only way to properly preform your job as a nurse, care taker, and advocate. I have been truly blessed to experience children from all ages and all walks of life.
TriState has truly been like a home to me. I worked in this facility for almost five years starting as a CNA and working to pay my way through nursing school. After completion of the Registered Nursing Program and passing my NCLEX state boards I went back. While working as the charge nurse for my nightshift team I learned SO MANY skills and had many responsibilities. I became distinguished in computer charting and online communication with families and providers while providing excellent patient care. I managed over 100 patients on any given night with the help of the LPNs/ CNAs on my shift. I devised and put care plans into place for patients with diagnoses' from A-Z. Admissions, discharges, managed care from treatment initiation to completion. I administered medications and monitored responses while working with healthcare teams to adjust care plans. Spoke daily with patient families and POAs, I became distinguished in communication and dialog skills. I learned to become a better listener and a real patient advocate. I facilitated therapeutic communication and crisis intervention in many residents mostly including those with dementia. I preformed patient assessments daily and preformed triage on incoming patients from other facilities, home or hospital. Wound care and diabetic education was a large part of my job. I educated, documented, and always followed policy and procedure.
While working in the Emergency department of the hospital I learned and preformed many nursing skills/actions. I learned here how to treat patients from all walks of life and situations. From a MVA to mild stomach pain. I regularly monitored telemetry, preformed EKGs, gave IV therapy, administered medications, educated, provided patient tools and knowledge for recovery. I administered CPR and Emergency medications. Managed patients with many chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart failure, cancer. renal disease, CAD. I communicated efficiently and properly with other hospitals, health care providers, physicians and patients to provide the best possible nursing care. I became very familiar with computerized charting and telephonic orders/verbal instruction. I accurately documented all elements of my nursing assessments preformed. I became very experienced in changing out tracheostomies, Gastrostomy buttons and catheters, wound care, and much more. I have experience with domestic violence and sexual assault protocols. I collaborated with physicians to quickly assess patients and deliver appropriate treatment while managing rapidly changing conditions. I truly enjoy helping others and want to provide the best care possible.
