  • Main charge nurse, one of two RNs in the charge nurse role. This position is to maintain smooth workflow with optimal communication within a busy ambulatory pediatric office. Tasks include organizing staff, discussions with providers, delegation of tasks, utilize resources for patients and families. Identify areas of unit improvement and facilitate changes as needed.
  • Phone triage 40 to 50 calls per shift speaking with patients to identify appropriate treatment plan, provide home care advice, discuss health concerns, refill and educate families on use of prescription medications. Communicate with providers about patient care concerns. Set up appointments, follow up calls, give support and advice. Provide education, support and resources to families with special needs children, children with chronic conditions or who need mental health services.
  • Administer medications via oral, IM and SQ injections and monitor responses. Provide medication education to patients and families on use, purpose and possible side effects.
  • Document medications administered, treatments and patient procedures performed in appropriate records according to privacy requirements.
