Responsible for data collection and review, prospective and retrospective for all trauma patients through all phases of care including Prehospital, Emergency Department, OR, ICU, ward and eventual outcome to discharge. Provide overall assessment of the trauma resuscitation in collaboration with the Trauma Team, Trauma Attending or surgical faculty on call, and DEM faculty. Promote multidisciplinary teamwork. Functions on the trauma team to provide broad scope of assistance to multiple departments involved in the care of the injured. Activities included but not limited to participation in all advanced trauma life support resuscitations while on duty, assisting trauma team physicians as needed in each phase of care including emergency, diagnostic, intra-operative and transport. Assess trauma team members response, evaluates trauma team adherence to trauma protocols. Liaison for prehospital care providers. Serve as a consultant providing resource and clinical expertise to staff nurses in each of the areas of trauma patient care.
Participate in TRN role, Trauma Resuscitation Nurse. As a clinical nurse expert that responds to the highest activation of trauma. Adult & pediatric trauma's. Facilitates the resuscitation of critically injured trauma patients through direct hands on care and coordination of care in collaberation with the physician lead. Transport & monitoring, provide hands on care in area of need, communicate with family and patient, assist with massive transfusion protocol, communicate with all members of the team and adequate hand off of care, remain with patient in area until released by Trauma physician lead.
