I have taken care of a great variety of patients and have learned a lot from my co-workers, students, patients, and patient's families. All of my nursing experience is in hospitals. I am a team player and believe we are all here to take the best care of our patients and that can only be done with everyone working together. I would love the opportunity to come work in labor and delivery and am excited about learning a new area of nursing and I feel like I would be a good addition to your team.

I have been at Ridgelake for almost 7 years. Our patients are medically complex. Our patients require close monitoring and are mostly ICU type patients. Many patients are on ventilators or/and have wounds and infections. Recognizing early symptoms of sepsis and other issues are very important as our patients generally have multiple issues. Pain control is very important for our patients keeping the patients comfortable and pain free is very important to me and this involves more than just simply medication. I often am involved in managing rapid response situations and attempting to prevent codes. I have also been in cardiac and respiratory code situations and at times been the code leader.
For the last 2 years I have been a full time charge nurse and also a floor nurse. I am involved with student nurse internships and with new staff orientation.
Our facility is unique and teamwork is very important to assure the best care for our patients.
I worked on the Surgical Acute floor caring for immediate post -op patients. The surgical patients ranged from simple laparoscopic to major surgeries with varying wounds and post-op needs. Since most of our patients were using PCA pumps I joined the Pain Resource Team and would often go to other floors to assist other nurses and patients as needed. I also would be charge nurse for some shifts. I was a preceptor for students and oriented new staff members.
I started at Forsyth Memorial as a new grad and I worked on the Intermediate ICU floor that had both a medical and surgical unit. There was a good variety of patients that I cared for. I had a great experience there and learned a lot for a solid base in nursing.
I worked as a CNA while attending nursing school and was able to work in hospitals and long term care facilities and was able to provide comfort and care to patients. I think I am a better nurse because I started as a CNA.
I attended MCC on a scholarship that I received. I took general education classes and moved to NC before obtaining my Associate of Arts degree.
