My professional background consists of work as an armed security officer, correctional and public safety officer, a delivery driver responsible for operating commercial vehicles, and duty in the armed forces as a military police officer and combat specialist. Compliance: My duties as a PSO include patrol by foot as well as by vehicle of a government facility. (Centers For Medicare Headquarters) During my tour of duty I am responsible for operating various types of physical security posts, they include access control at entry points of the building, inspections of both commercial vehicles and passenger cars, verification of employee and visitor identification, and operation of X-Ray machines and walkthrough magnetometers. I also utilize visual detection methods to identify contraband, dangerous items, and other unauthorized weapons from entering into the facility. I also must interact with, instruct, and greet individuals who enter the facility, therefore maintaining a high level of professionalism and job knowledge. I also am required to monitor CCTV, and maintain surveillance of key areas of the property.
While serving as a Firefighter Trainee, I cleaned, serviced, and maintained fire apparatus to meet a state of readiness, and performed general maintenance of fire department property. I also observed strict safety protocols to maintain personal and co-worker safety. I also trained on extinguishing flames, to suppress fires with charged hose lines, and hand held water or chemical driven devices. I also trained extensively with "Self Contained Breathing Apparatus" (SCBA) equipment, and other types of personal protective gear, to include full firefighter "turnout" gear, and HAZMAT equipment. I participated in Emergency Vehicle Operations Training, trench rescue training, as well as vehicle extrication, ladder operations, and search and rescue operations.
My Duties as a Critical Infrastructure Security Officer (CIFSO) included interaction with employees and visitors on a daily basis, and access control of vehicle and pedestrian traffic into a highly sensitive and secure facility. (Strategic National Stockpile). I was responsible for maintaining a high level of situational awareness, and maintaining constant surveillance of the site through means of monitoring CCTV. I maintained order and safety while providing customer service and information to facility visitors. I also investigated and reported incidents that were out of place or of significance to protect company assets. I also evaluated credentials of personnel and provided temporary badges to visitors. I monitored building and property entrances and exits to detect intrusions or unauthorized access. I administered basic first aid for minor situations and contacted emergency medical personnel for medical emergencies beyond my level of training. I explained security protocols to employees and guests to promote readiness for emergency situations. I acted as a visual deterrent for criminal activity, and general misconduct by maintaining a high level of visibility. I conducted semi annual readiness training which consisted of a physical fitness test, extensive weapons training and qualification, (Glock 9mm and AR-15 assault rifle) understanding and application of certain use of force techniques,(handcuffs, OC pepper spray, and expandable baton) and response to active shooter drills/operating as a "three person" fire team.
While operating as a United States Army Military Police Officer, I enforced military laws and regulations. I also monitored and investigated suspicious persons, situations, and unusual activities. I trained in diffusing hostile situations with use of effective negotiation techniques. I also composed reports on daily activities and incidents, which encompassed theft and damage to property, presence of unauthorized individuals, and other unexpected situations. I also patrolled specific areas on foot, and in motorized vehicles, and responded promptly to emergency calls for service. I also managed CCTV, access control, security lighting, as well as gate systems. I also conducted convoy escorts, participated in extensive tactical training, and maintained an overall preparedness for emergency situations. I also directed and controlled crowds at base functions, and organized and recorded facts to prepare incident reports.
Served in the United States Army on active duty from 1993-1996, and the Army Reserves from 1999-2001 with an Honorable discharge. I posses over 18 years experience in the public safety/ armed enforcement field, an I am certified by the American Red Cross in first-aid, CPR, and applications of an automated external defibrillator (AED). I have also received awards from employers based on leadership, professionalism, expert weapons marksmanship, and physical fitness.
