I started in healthcare at a young age. I had 2 friends in middle and High School with M.D.
My experience with M.D. lead to a volunteer ski instructor position for kids with C.P.
The Ski experience fostered my beginnings as an Orderly on the Peds floor at Ingham Regional. We were the regional Cystic Fibrosis Center at the time.
Concurrently taking classes, I eventually transferred to surgery as a Surgical Tech, became Nationally certified, and garnered a spot on the open heart team. Soon after I began instructing a clinical site for S. Tech students. After 3 years as clinical site instructor I took over as Lead Surgical Tech Instructor for LCC and had 4 clinical instructors I was responsible for.
I was simultaneously completing course work in Nursing.
After becoming an Rn I worked in ICU, surgery, and PACU before leaving the hospital in January 2011 to work as School Nurse.
I have been the sole school nurse for SXI,SCI,ASD,and MoCI students age 3 to 26 until the start of this year when we were able to hire an LPN. We have had between 100 - 150 students.
I have always enjoyed working with Sped students and its associated challenges and rewards!!
