Professional Summary

Thank you for your time and consideration in reviewing my resume. I am seeking employment as a registered nurse within the TMC New Graduate Nursing Residency Program. I am particularly interested in working in the Emergency Department. This position will give me the opportunity to apply the knowledge I have acquired in Grand Canyon University School of Nursing, and skills learned throughout clinical rotations completed at TMC.

I would bring to the position, a calm, friendly, and compassionate demeanor. With demonstrated ability to work with people from all backgrounds, I understand that individual needs of a patient require consideration. These needs may be based on a number of factors, including cultural background, life experience, language, religion, intellectual differences, or gender. All people in our community deserve respect and validation, and I intend to actively provide this to all patients.

Attention to detail is an important component of care I learned during clinical rotations. Whether it was holding the hand of a patient who was frightened during a painful procedure, or thoroughly reading through a chart and discovering a DNR discrepancy, seemingly small details can make a great deal of difference to patients. Attention to detail also maintains the integrity and reputation of the facility.

I am passionate about learning and applying evidence-based care. Having lived in countries where this was not practiced, I have seen first-hand what can occur when implementation of the latest evidence-based practice is allowed to stagnate. Application of knowledge is how medicine progresses.

My approach to work in any field is pro-active and cooperative. If tasks can be completed ahead of time, I prefer to do so, rather than wait until there are time constraints. If a co-worker is visibly overwhelmed, it's my responsibility to step up and lend a hand. No task is insignificant, nor should it be left to another co-worker to complete if it is within my capability to finish.
