I truly loved my time at South Davis and I'm thankful for the experience and everything I learned. I was unable to stay at South Davis Hospital because theonly shifts available wouldn't work with my school schedule.
While attending Davis Techs Nursing Assistant Program I learned basic medical terminology and abbreviations, infection prevention and control, safety and body mechanics, emergency care, disaster preparation, and basic nursing skills. I studied and became familiar with many different chronic and acute conditions, mental health and mental illnesses. In our skills lab we demonstrated and passed off many different nursing skills, some include; proper handwashing, contact precautions, taking vital signs, positioning, transfers and assisting patients with ADL's (Activities of Daily Living).
I completed cognitive and skills evaluations in accordance with the curriculum of The American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) Program.
All skills were practiced and passed-off on all age groups (infant, child and adult).
I completed my GED after leaving high school to join the U.S. Army as active duty. A past medical issue came up and kept me out of the military after my pre-enlistment training.
