I was contacted by Remy Boots the owner of Anytime Fitness Grants Pass and asked if I would be willing to come on board to help with enrollment and public relations. I get to meet personally with potential prospects for the gym, give them gym tours, and find out what their needs are from our business. I work hard to make sure we exceed their needs, and leave them with an experience that they will enjoy and remember. Since I have started working at the gym I have been successful in raising the percentage of membership enrollment. I have also come up with creative new ways to market our gym. I have created a monthly news letter that will start in January, and I am currently working on flyers that we will take to local businesses to invite them to come and see what we have to offer them. I feel that since I have been there I have been able to bring a positive, upbeat attitude, and have enhanced the experience that prospects will have when they come to our gym office.
My main job here is customer service. I assist people in finding what they are looking for, and do my best to ensure they have a pleasant shopping experience. I have been trained in several positions in my short time there, and know that if I wanted to stay past seasonal that opportunity would be open to me.
As owner, I was in charge of all operations. I did all of the hiring, training, scheduling, purchasing of supplies, accounting, payroll, customer service, coordinate all of the renovations, and any daily duties that needed handled. I bought this shop when it was a failing coffee stand that kept changing owners and going out of business. I seen a potential for it to be successful so I decided to purchase it and give it everything I had. I watched it grow from a failing business, to a staple in the community of Gold Hill. The business grew every year, and now is known for donating to the schools in the community, as well as many other local organizations. It was the most challenging thing I have ever taken on. I learned so much about public relations, and how to deal with all sorts of situations and people. I learned how to handle unexpected tragedies, and still manage to maintain daily flow of business. I sold the business to one of my employees, and she is continuing to grow every year as well. I believe that the initial hard work I put into changing the way the business was ran there has a large part to do with it's success today. I laid a strong foundation for the shop to grow and be successful for years to come.
I was in charge of greeting all of the potential residents as they came into my office. I would take them on tours of the 243 apartment complex we had, go over all of the amenities, and lease apartments. I was in charge of collecting rent, serving notices, taking and scheduling all maintenance requests, and general office operations such as answering phones and paperwork. I would put together all of the move in paperwork and organize and handle all move in appointments and walk throughs. I lived on site there so I often had residents come to my apartment with needs they had, and it was my responsibility to figure out how to help them solve their situation. This job helped me learn public relations, and how to separate working at a complex, and also being a resident there myself. I loved seeing the people around that I helped find homes, and took part in their move in process. When the new owners bought this complex, I had an opportunity to move with Pinnacle Realty Management up to a location in Beaverton. I was offered another property to manage in Springfield as well. I moved to Southern Oregon so I did not take that job offer. I would have loved to transfer with that company to Southern Oregon, however they did not have any properties down here.
