Function as a charge RN for an outpatient infusion clinic with 15 chairs. Provide direct patient care in additional to being a resource RN for infusion staff and perform administrative duties of oversee the day to day schedule and patients assignment of the infusion room.
-Assist with the initial intake process: Receives, reviews; verify treatment orders and ensure patient treatment visit being scheduled in timely manner.
-Educate patient and caregiver on their treatment; potential side effects; signs and symptoms needed to be reported to MD.
-Administer various type of infusion therapy to oncology and non-oncology patients via either peripheral or central IV line.
-Assess patient physical condition as well as their response to treatment; communicate with physician of any changes and ensure all patient needs are met.
-Complete all required documentation using EHR.
-Submit billing encounter using the correct coding.
Provide comprehensive support to assigned Oncologist to navigate the delivery of optimum care of Oncology patients.
-Review daily patients schedule in the clinic; tracking patient treatment cycle (Both IV and oral chemotherapy)
-Assist MD with clinic procedures: bone marrow biopsy; skin biopsy; lumbar puncture and intrathecal chemotherapy administration.
-Educate patients and family on specific diseases and treatment options; provide ongoing chemo teaching for oncology patients.
-Assess ; plan; collaborate with other departments and care teams to coordinate patients comprehensive cancer treatments.
-Be the main point of contact for patients; respond to patient calls and e-mails; conduct phone triage; review test result; provide medical advise using approved nursing protocol.
-Obtain prior authorization from insurance for patient's home medication including oral chemotherapy.
-Facilitate patient access to community support networks for financial and psychosocial assistance.
-Contact patients to follow up; round on patients at infusion center; address patient concerns and notify MD for any change of condition.
Functioned within the full scope of RN Practice Act to provide primary nursing care for Oncology who was actively receiving chemotherapy and/ or in process of receiving Bone marrow transplant.
-Applied nursing process as foundation for care delivery.
-Administered various types of chemotherapy / transfusion / IV antibiotics on the daily basis.
