As I am just graduating in May of 2015, my experience resides in my internships through the university of Maine Contemporary art Museum and a smaller local restaurant, Verve. At the museum I have organized artifacts in the permanent art collection, updated the archives, taken guests for tours around the museum, taught art classes on special occasions. I have also worked closely with the museum's registrar. He taught me how to file away information on artists profiles, as well as framing and art handling. I Have recently been working at The HInkley Yachts production yard in Trenton, ME for the past seven months and have done the following tasks; Varnishing (interior and exterior), cleaning and gel coating. My main focus while working at Hinkley is varnishing and working in the clean room. I have learned the importance of the quality of each quote and the preparation work that comes before that, Every single step counts!

Here I was able to learn the art of Varnishing. I worked in the clean room which is the last stage of production before the boat is handed over to the Owner for final sale. A few things I was able to gain experience with here were the importance of attention to detail whether that be interior and exterior cleaning ( gel coating, knowledge of different cleaning products) and varnishing in terms of build-up coats and final coats as well. I was able to work with people that had been working in this trade for over 30 years so I learned a lot about what the owners expect and how to treat each part of the boat i.e depending on the temperature and how fast certain types of varnish dries.
Art History I started my education at Goucher College in Towson, Maryland. Goucher opened up the doors of museum studies and art history for me. After two years I transferred to the University of Maine where I majored in Art History and minored in Studio art. There I also completed two, One-semester long internships with the University of Maine contemporary museum in downtown Bangor.
