Graduated from Odessa College with ADN degree in applied science in nursing. My ADN program was a career ladder program which allowed me to receive my LVN license in August, 1989 and begin working part-time in L&D, nursery, pediatrics and post-partum while finishing my RN degree. I have worked in women's health area for my entire career with the exception of a 3 year period when I worked in employee health/infection control. Served as Full-Time Charge Nurse of the Antepartum Unit. The unit consisted of 22 beds, and a procedure room where I assisted with multiple procedures weekly. Responsibilities included
Hired as Shift Coordinator for Night Shift, for the Antepartum Unit. Responsibilities included delegating daily shift assignments, monthly schedules, daily staffing, completing daily JACHO compliance task sheets, and employee evaluations.
Assessment, care, and education of obstetrical patients prenatally and postnatal. Experience preparing patients for surgical procedures and assisting physicians. Assist with care of newborn and breastfeeding.
Staff RN/Relief Charge RN for the Labor and Delivery Unit/Newborn Nursery. Served as Infection Control/Employee Health Nurse from 1995-1998 then returned to L&D/Nursery. Responsibilities included assessment, care, and treatment of labor patients as well as newborns. NRP instructor during my time at Shannon Medical Center.
First Nursing job began in Labor & Delivery as a LVN while continuing education and eventually obtaining RN degree in 1990. 5 bed Labor and Delivery unit with approximately 150-200 deliveries monthly. Certified in "Resolve Through Sharing" program and helped to implement this program in our unit to better care for patients and families with fetal loss. Obtained RNC certification in Inpatient Obstetrics in 1993. Upon departure from Odessa Regional was serving as Co-Unit Manager.

Scheduled to complete all prerequisites this Spring in order to attend BSN program at Texas Tech University in the Fall.
