Emergency Department Physician Assistant in a fast-paced environment involved in all aspects of patient care. This includes: detailed histories and physical examinations, development and implementation of treatment plans, prescription medications, ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and diagnostic studies as well as many emergency and non-emergency procedures. Duties include: suturing, joint reductions, I & D, fracture management including reduction and splinting, nasal packing, foreign body removal, and intubation. EPIC computer trained.
PRN position- Involved in all aspects of patient care for walk-in patients that have non-life threating illness or injury that requires immediate attention. Detailed history and physical examinations, minor surgical procedures, ordering and interpretation of tests and imaging, prescription medications and formulating treatment plans.
Sole provider in a low acuity Urgent Care setting providing patient care including: History and physical examinations, treatment plans, prescription medications, immunizations, and Point of Care testing (POCT) including rapid strep, Hemoglobin and urinalysis.
Part-time ICU-CCU Cardiovascular Technician Specialist (CVTS). Involved in all aspects of patient care during a 12 hr. shift. Responsibilities included: Monitoring vitals, IV fluids, outputs, ventilators, balloon pumps, cardiac monitors, medication administration (oral, IV,IM, SC), suction breathing tubes, IV catheter insertion and perform ABG's, documentation and collaborating with the Physicians and nurses.
Provided the citizen's of Cedar Rapids with emergency fire and medical assistance. Stationed on an ACLS fire engine and responsible for advanced patient care before the ambulance arrived for transport. EMS duties included: Patient assessments, IV catheter insertion, medication administration, cardiac monitoring, defibrillation, external pacing and cardioversion, airway management, including intubation, extrication, immobilization, splinting and bandaging, wound care and monitoring vital signs. Accountable for documentation, station duties, fire calls.
