Dana Hall School - Wellesley, MA,

I was elected to the Student Council as the Boarding Representative for the Class of 2020 during my freshman and sophomore year. I gave on average 1-2 tours a week to prospective Dana students and parents. It’s rewarding to see students that I have given tours on campus as students. I’m on duty once a week, and on this day it is my responsibility to ensure that students are checked in and in their designated areas before curfew. Along with my house director, I lead dorm meetings once a week. I mentored in Dana Hall’s Peer Education Program. This program educates young Dana girls on topics of sexual health, drug and alcohol awareness, and life skills for women. It has been a privilege to be a part of this program because I’m passionate about this curriculum and ensuring that Dana girls have access to the information that they will need to succeed in their Dana experience and in their lives. I served as Head of Head's Council, which is a council of 12 seniors that work with our Head of School to unite the day and boarding student communities. Being the head of this council has been incredibly rewarding because our work makes a real difference in our community. In my junior year, I graduated from the School for Ethics and Global Leadership, which was transformative for me. My academic study was enriched with the study of politics and philosophy. Our curriculum was similar to that of a regular independent school with the exception of our Ethics and Leadership Curriculum. This curriculum allowed us to participate in case studies like climate change and grand strategy. We also met with prestigious guest speakers like John Brennan and Lissa Muscatine. Through this semester program, I gained experience in international relations, culminating in a policy brief related to the Syrian Refugee crisis and presenting it to the UNHCR. My experience at SEGL has resulted in my desire to major in either International Relations or Political Science. I am the recipient of the Leadership Award, Community Service Award, University of Virginia Book Prize Winner, and Fitzie Award Nominee. I spent my high school summers participating in Emory University's Summer Science Program (9th grade), Carleton Liberal Arts Experience Program (10th grade), The American Civil Liberties Union's Summer Advocacy Program(11th grade), the Brown Summer Leadership Institute(11th grade), and the Girls Summer Leadership Program (11th grade). I’m proud to say that I graduated in the top 10% of my class and I will be matriculating to Barnard College this fall.
