Professional Summary

Continue to provide care, compassion, and quality treatment to patients while sharing experience, education, skill, and leadership with peers. Reviewing all inpatients daily and discussing with Medical Services to offer assistance in determining if patient and family met criteria and desire to begin transition into Palliative Care and/or met criteria for inpatient Palliative Care, introduce Hospice home health care, or basic home health care and assistive services at that time. Creating an expanded clinic where more time was utilized and necessary to allow access to patients and families who needed the option of Palliative Care. Sales In a nutshell: Palliative Care was a new concept and new field. To create a successful program, retain it, and fund it, it was necessary to get all staff specially the Medical Team Leadership to "buy in" to the philosophy take ownership of it. To have clients, it was necessary to get both patient and family buy-in as well. To teach how to recognize the prospective client and family who would benefit and be suitable for Palliative Care. Once started in November 2007, by the following February I had taken the program into every unit on the hospital, and from 10-12 consults per month to 60 consults per month allowing us to require a full time team, unit, and specialty RNs. We were also awarded a $3,000,000.00 grant based on the work I had done and the addition of the new full team. I can do this with any program, it required knowledge above average, skills above average, communication with patients, family, and medical teams at a level that exceeded average. It required respect of the medical community in order to grow, I had this from prior position as SICU specialty RN,
