It is an aspiration of mine to become a Registered Nurse, and to most importantly work at Sharp. Not only am I Sharp baby, I have a very important place in my heart for Sharp. A dear friend of mine, who was like a mom to me, Debbie Meltzer was a Trauma Nurse at Sharp Memorial. When I was 9 years old I had dreams of already being a nurse. My Great grandmother was in the ER at Memorial, and Debbie happened to be working that shift. She was the only one who could get IV going on my Grandmother. She also walked me around the Emergency Department, and I quickly fell in love with the Nursing profession at nine years old. She was my neighbor and was my catalyst to be a nurse, and everyday I think of her to keep going and never give up on my dreams. My lucky number is 16, and the treatment room dedicated to her is treatment 16.
My Grandfather has been in and out of both Memorial and Grossmont since 2016. Personally experiencing his hardships as a triple amputee with end stage-renal failure and being able to be hands on with him during his struggles for the past years has provided me great knowledge, compassion and patience aside from working as a CNA.
My Father also has Congestive Heart Failure and has been admitted to Grossmont a few times. Learning about Cardiovascular diseases and what symptoms and diets one should follow with the horrible disease, I have also been able to experience at first hand.
Although I have great personal experience of care from my Grandfather's and Father's conditions, it is my ultimate goal to work in ER/Trauma or Labor and Delivery/NICU. Being someones support in a very scary time in the ER or to brining life into this world and being able to offer a helping hand, gives me great joy. With teamwork of other staff members combined with compassion and caring voice, can make someones day brighter, and know that they have someone, when they might not have anyone.
