  • I was offered the opportunity to work on a TDY at the Tucson Operations Center (TOC) as an Operator.
  • During my assignment at the TOC, I learned to monitor and operate security cameras from all Arizona international ports of entry.
  • I also was trained in locating, archiving and burning surveillance videos for court presentations.
  • At the TOC I strengthen my ability to effectively communicate in writing and compose reports.
  • Other duties are to prepare a variety of reports for upper management, such the Border Wait Time Report, Credible Fear, Daily Brief and Point of Contact Reports, as well as to Conduct Radio Checks with all Ports in Arizona.
  • I also have been responsible for creating the Indian National Report for CBP Headquarters.
  • I have knowledge in operating a number of different systems. 
  • As part of my TOC duties, I have been rotating to the Tucson International Airport to assist in their mission.
  • At the Airport, I have been trained in inspecting private planes in search of illicit items, as well to check for any radiation by utilizing the Radiation Isotope Identifier Device (RIID).
  • I also have processed passengers and crew according to CBP policies and procedures.

Cargo Officer, Nogales, AZ GS/12 - Rotating Shifts During Fiscal Year 2013, I was assigned to the Cargo Facility in Nogales, Arizona where I was responsible to facilitate trade while enforcing regulations on primary according to CBP policies and procedures.

  • I also conducted secondary inspections on a variety of commodities in search of illicit contraband and trade violations on a daily basis.
  • As part of my regular rotation, I was responsible for collecting the proper duties for entering the Commercial Facility from drivers.
  • I work within a team environment and independently to process commercial traffic in a timely manner.
  • I gained experience in reporting and annotating the transportation of cash and other monetary instruments collected during operational hours to the bank according to CBP policies and procedures.
  • Due to my ability to work with minimal supervision, management provided me the opportunity to learn more advanced skills such; creating "end of business day" reports, process in bond manifests and export commodity to Mexico.

  • It was my duty to ensure they were processed in a timely manner and to prioritize inspections as needed.* Passenger Processing Officer, Nogales, AZ GS/5 to GS/12 - Rotating Shifts My duties as a Passenger Processing Officer (PAX) from December 2008 to October 2012 included the challenge of processing aliens for admission through examination and inspection to prevent the unauthorized entry into the country and to allow admissible applicants to enter the United States.
  • In PAX I seized illegal narcotics, vehicles, and agricultural products.
  • I have been trained to apprehend violators of the Immigration and Naturalization Act as well as other violators.
  • I have assisted HSI during their investigations, conducting interviews and questioning of suspects.
  • Such investigations had led to the arrest of suspects on alien smuggling charges and also on felony warrants.
  • As part of my PAX Officer duties I conducted Seven Point Inspections on vehicles entering the United States on a daily basis.

  • Since May 2014, I been on a Temporary Duty Yonder (TDY) opportunity; working at the Joint Intelligence Operations Center (JIOC) as part of a Joint Field Command (JFC) detail in Tucson, Arizona.
  • As an operator I serve as a liaison with the Office of Air & Marine (OAM) via National Air Security Operations (NASO) communication system called Bigpipe to coordinate air support to Border Patrol Agents or with other law enforcement agencies on the ground and assist stations and ports in Arizona with any other situations.
  • I also gained experienced in creating Significant Incident Reports (SIR's) from Arizona ports and stations to the Commissioner's Situation Room (SITROOM).
  • Among my duties I was able to assist other law enforcement agencies such the Pima County Sheriff's Office Department, Tucson Police Department, and Homeland Security Investigators to provide information or conduct immigration checks according to DHS policies and procedures.
  • This opportunity has given me the possibility to gain experience in a variety of systems like Targeting Framework (TF), CLEAR, Enforcement Alien Removal Module (EARM), Analytical Framework Intelligence (AFI), Person Centric Query Service (PCQS), among others.
