Water Facility Worker III, 06/2013 to Current
City of Napa – Napa, CA
  • Organize, schedule, assign, and review the work of water system maintenance staff.
  • Coordinate with other departments, divisions, and agencies both within the City of Napa and outside related agencies.
  • Train personnel in the safe and proper operation of a wide variety of tools and equipment used in water system maintenance activities.
  • Draft and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Select and estimate materials and labor costs for assigned jobs, while ensuring the availability of supplies, materials, and equipment in order to accomplish the work, and purchase supplies and materials as necessary.
  • Responsible for a multitude of critical documentation, such as daily labor, material and equipment costs, and maintain work-performed records.
  • Provide recommendations for project-related budget planning.
  • Lead staff and perform the most difficult and complex work in the installation, construction, maintenance, and repair of the City's water system.
  • Implement Cal-OSHA and City safety guidelines to ensure the safety of staff and the general public.
  • Respond to comments and concerns expressed by the public regarding water system field activities.
  • Attend a variety of staff and project meetings.
  • Serve as the Acting Water Facility Supervisor during that employee's absence.
Water Facility Worker II, 09/2010 to 01/2013
City of Napa – Napa, CA
  • At the journeyman level: install, maintain, and repair water mains, service laterals, meters, hydrants, valves and other water system facilities.
  • Set up traffic control including signs and barricades, and direct traffic around work sites.
  • Operate large trucks and medium-sized construction equipment such as loaders, backhoes, trenching machines, compressors, vacuum equipment, excavators, and forklifts.
  •  Operate leak detection and pipe location equipment relative to excavation, tapping and repair of water lines.
  • Repair and/or replace water meters ranging in size from 3/4" to 8".
  • Read and interpret water system maps and blueprints, including Underground Service Alert marking and notification.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on tools, equipment, and vehicles used in the work and stocks vehicles with adequate supply of tools and equipment needed to perform the work.
  • Standby rotation which made me the lead person for any after hour call out. I was then made responsible for calling out a crew, insuring the job got completed correctly, and that all important documentation was recorded.
