I am currently a Columbia,MO Police Officer with 7.5 years of experience. I am pursuing a career change to become a Mortgage Loan Officer. I have always been a numbers savvy person, interested in finance, real estate, and investing.
I have acquired a lot of experience in leadership, problem solving, conflict resolution, and project management skills in the Law Enforcement field. I believe the skills and experience I have gained through these years of busy police work have prepared me significantly for any position requiring high levels of trust, responsibility, accuracy, time management, and results.
From dealing with the public on a daily basis, I have learned to sell myself to people to gain their trust and confidence. Much of law enforcement can be stressful with people becoming upset and I am required to deescalate situations and explain things to people to calm them. I believe I would excel in a sales oriented position as a Loan Officer, with the added benefits of helping veterans which I am very passionate about.
I am extremely self motivated and driven to succeed. Over the past 3 years, I have worked very hard to become financially successful in my personal life, working vast amounts of overtime and paying off over $60,000 of debt, mostly from student loans, using the Dave Ramsey system. That as an example, will help me to help others who are trying to buy a home but may be struggling. I am seeking an opportunity to apply my ongoing personal education of real estate, finance, and sales through Veterans United. I have heard VU takes great care of its employees. I very much want to work for a company that appreciates its hard working people.
• Effective communication skills. I spend a lot of time on the phone, writing emails, and performing face to face information gathering.
