Work History
Training Specialist, 07/2012 to 07/2016
Department Of Homeland SecuritySan Angelo, TX,
  • Managed Training Center Yorktown's U.S. Navy Miniature Electronic Repair, Micro-Miniature Electronic Repair (2M) and Module Test and Repair (MTR) courses (hereafter "2M/MTR courses").
  • Helped lead a U.S. Coast Guard advisory team that collaborated with U.S. Navy course managers to revise the Navy's curriculum for the 2M/MTR courses. These revisions led to the implementation of improved printed-circuit-board repair work processes, and higher reliability repairs and greater logistics cost-savings throughout the fleet.
  • Mentored and trained over 300 U.S. Navy and Coast Guard sailors enrolled in the 2M/MTR courses. The implementation of the 2M Electronic Repair program in the Coast Guard directly resulted in a cost reduction for electronics systems maintenance and logistics.
Fire Control / Intel & Watch Team, 07/2008 to 06/2012
Albuquerque Public SchoolsAlbuquerque, NM,
  • Incorporated ship's Fire-Control Division personnel into the ship's Intelligence and Watch Team during Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATF-South) counter-narcotics operations. Demonstrated strong team-building skills as I merged together two separate ordinance shops on the ship into one team working towards a common goal.
  • As a member of the ship's Intelligence and Watch Team, contributed to the USCGC Jarvis' successful apprehension of a semi-submersible craft transporting over 5,000 pounds of narcotics while on deployment in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.
  • Helped lead the foreign language interpreter team aboard the USCGC Jarvis while deployed in the Western Pacific Ocean in Fall 2010. Helped lead a team of interpreters that facilitated interagency and international partnerships as well as joint operations with Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese, Korean and Russian counterparts. My team's efforts led to the success of complicated underway joint exercises, several days of international meetings and briefings, official receptions, and community relations outreach with over 150 participants from 5 foreign countries. As the Russian Interpreter, I translated with skill and diplomacy. As a result of my team's performance, I was awarded the U.S. Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendation.
  • This involved cross-training personnel so that they could service any equipment of the Fire Control Division, regardless of their previous formal training.
  • I demonstrated strong team-building skills as I strengthened cross-division relationships with the Gunner's Mate Division and the Operation's Department Electronics Division. This directly resulted in greater cross-training, which not only benefited the unit, but also the enlisted sailors of these divisions as they broadened their professional experience by gaining experience with a greater variety of shipboard equipment.
  • Performed planned maintenance procedures, system fault analysis utilizing automated and manual fault isolation tests, and the operation of the MK-92 Mod 1 Fire Control System.
  • Conducted component-level troubleshooting and 2M standard repair procedures to MK-92 Fire Control System and MK-15 Close-In Weapons System printed circuit boards. This resulted in approximately $500,000 of cost savings over the duration of my tour aboard the Jarvis.

U.S. Coast GuardCity, STATE,
  • Performed planned and corrective maintenance to RF communications, radar equipment, and communications security cryptographic devices aboard U.S. Coast Guard vessels and shore units.
  • Worked as part of a team which serviced electronics equipment throughout Southeastern Massachusetts. Demonstrated strong team-building skills during communication center renovation projects at Coast Guard units in the Cape Cod area.
