Acted as both handler and trainer for the 1st Special Forces Group Mult-Purpose Canine Program. Responsible for the training and certification of 8 canine teams and 2 spare canines capable of performing a multitude of jobs such as route clearance, sensitive site exploitation, and direct action. While employed by the kennels I was given the opportunity to advance within the canine world very quickly. Many subject matter experts were brought in which greatly improved my knowledge of canine employment and trouble shooting. Strong emphasis was placed on patrol work, and I was allowed the chance to test for a national certification as a French Ring Decoy and passed to become 1 of 25 recognized in the US. While with the kennel I performed a 7 month rotation in Afghanistan as a MPC Handler. During my off duty hours, I continued to push my education within the canine world. Volunteer work was done with many organizations such as the Thurston County Search and Rescue, Puget Sound Dog Sports, and several local law enforcement agencies.
Served as a senior communications Sergeant on a Special Forces Operational Detachment Alpha (SFODA) that specializes in mountain operations;conducts joint special operations worldwide; trains team personnel as well as foreign forces in tactical communications; collects and reports information at a tactical through strategic level; accountable for encryption at a national level; trains and advises foreign forces leadership, overseeing up to 800 people. While serving with the ODA I deployed to Afghanistan for a 8 month rotation. While on deployment interaction with multi-national forces was a daily occurrence.
Lead and trained a 30 man detachment responsible for the security and movement of the battalion leadership to include all visiting senior leaders. The detachment ran 432 combat rotations in the Al Anbar Provence of Iraq during a 15 month rotation. During this rotation both myself and the detachment were recognized for our attention to detail and sound operating procedures. These sound operating procedures presented us with the opportunity to escort many high ranking officials such as General Petraeus and General Odierno.
Responsible for a 6 man squad that provided in-direct capabilities for a Airborne Infantry Company during two rotations to both Afghanistan and Iraq.
