To obtain the Code Enforcement Officer I position within the City of Davenport which will provide the opportunity for growth in my challenging yet rewarding career while allowing me to utilize my 17 years of experience, knowledge and skills in the Code Enforcement profession.
Conducts field inspections and investigations of complex complaints and violations in City ordinances for zoning, property maintenance, housing safety, environmental safety, and other City codes. Assists the Code Compliance Manager with division statistics, addressing critical code inquiries, coordinates neighborhood projects and code case review. Skilled front-line staff in communicating with citizens via email, phone and incoming code violation reports. Conducts field inspections to address violations of the property maintenance, zoning, rental codes and illicit discharge. Conducts scheduled proactive inspections on citywide neighborhood and business sign inspections. Research and analyze information regarding property ownership, land use, current zoning and case histories to prepare code enforcement cases for civil or criminal court or for administrative review of violations of the City's property maintenance, zoning or fire codes. Performs code case management, site inspections, communication with the public and various City staff. Coordinates division programs such as Clean and Lien Program, Dumpster Assistance and Bee Removal, and processing abated properties up to recording a Notice of Lien. Oversees and conducts complex inspections and enforcement assignments, issues citations for violations, maintains complaint files, and appears as City representative and witness. Confers with the department directors and the City Attorney as required. Performs administrative duties, answering questions of processes, applicable codes and coordination with department staff and Code Compliance Manager to address inquiries and violations. Provides technical information relating to zoning, property maintenance and housing safety to the public in order to process complaints, reports and other research projects. Assists the public in understanding code requirements, enforcement policies and administrative procedures. Coordinates and schedules proactive inspections for citywide neighborhoods and businesses. Provides support to the Code Compliance Manager as required by preparing monthly statistical reports for programs, code inspections, graffiti and similar. Supports the division by organizing and/or participating in events such as Homeless Street Count, HOA Summits/Academies and similar.
Conduct field inspections to address violations of property maintenance codes, rental codes, zoning code and illicit discharge codes. Conduct scheduled proactive inspections for our city-wide neighborhood program, Avondale Proud. Conduct merchant inspections and business sign inspections. Respond to citizen complaints by following up on issues either in person or by telephone and/or email. Research property address for previous violations. Communicate with various other city departments. Prepare and issue Notice of Violation's, Final Notice's, and/or City Code Citation's. Attend various HOA meetings to showcase Code Enforcement. Performs general office duties by performing code case data entry, conducts research, answers phone calls and issue notices by mail. Serves as the back-up to our Senior Code Compliance Specialist. Based on my years in Code Enforcement and my drive, I trained new Code Officers that joined our division.
Entry level position to Development Services. Answered main line for the Building Department. Assisted customers at the front counter. Scheduled all building inspections for the inspectors. Compiled monthly reports for the Building Official. Issued over the counter building permits for minor room additions, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and swimming pools.
