As a Safety Specialist I have experience in OSHA written programs, development of US Postal safety programs, hazard communication, lock out/tag out, use of SAP (front and back end), word, power point and delivering safety solutions at the local and regional level. Expertise in ergonomics, safety training, facility safety & fire inspections, personal protective equipment, and OSHA VPP programs.
3 day training class in Ergonomics Program Development
Created JSA's,Safety talks, coordinated and led Hazcom, and Safety Committee member training as a Safety Captain at the Evergreen DCU Post Office (112) employees.
Presented "Successful Safety Programs" at the Portland Postal District Safety summit to 80 postal managers and supervisors.
Trained as a SGE (special government employee) by OSHA for VPP certification inspections. Completed VPP inspection as an ergonomic specialist at Georgia Pacific NW Service Centers in Portland Oregon.
As the Ergonomic Risk Reduction Process district leader, trained over 200 employees in the ergonomics process. Managed 56 team members comprised of craft & management employees. During the 3 year process the Portland District had a 38% reduction in MSD cases.
Assigned as the Safety Specialist for 6 mail processing centers in the Portland Postal District. Overseeing facility fire & safety inspections, OSHA safety programs, accident reporting and gatekeeper duties of SAP (EHS accident reporting) for supervisors.
Standard letter carrier duties, Facility Safety coordinator for the 3 offices in the Beaverton cluster, responsible for all OSHA written programs, safety inspections and relating safety talks to all offices. Vehicle maintenance included performing vehicle repairs and assuring all employees that the vehicles were in a safe proper running condition. Vehicle fleet included 120 vehicles.
ERRP District Leader overseeing 56 team members and responsible for training for over 2000 employees in the district.
As a Safety Captain duties are to conduct daily inspections, lead safety causes for the craft employees, co chair monthly safety committee meetings and present OSHA safety talks to all employees. These responsibilities led to being chosen as the OSHA VPP coordinator for the Beaverton/Evergreen DCU. The Evergreen DCU was the first DCU (detached carrier unit) to receive the OSHA VPP Star award (2005).
Letter carrier duties included safe, expedient, proper delivery of mail to the customers on the assigned mail route. It is an unwritten rule that the letter carrier is also the watchdog of the neighborhood.
