Responsible for over 1200 union employees in New England and Metro New York area for Electric Utility Line Clearance contracts on multiple utilities.
I would regularly travel in my coverage area supporting the Safety needs of management in all my assigned regions.
Provide safety training, incident investigations, and field safety audits and conduct joint site visits with the host utility to develop strong trusting relationships.
Respond to incidents for incident analysis support, find root cause, come up with proper corrective action plan and assist management with re-training.
Respond to storm emergencies nationwide to assist the safety team during restoration efforts to accomplish the mission incident free.
Conduct CPR/FA/AED and train employees in fall protection, haz.com, defensive driving, ergonomics, electrical hazards lockout tag out, more.
Monitor incidents or close calls for trends and develop a plan to insure the same type of incident won't occur again.
Assist utility with incident investigations, submit Investigation reports on time and participate in IA meetings.
Write company weekly safety meetings on various topics and write Hot Sheets to communicate recent incidents or to heighten awareness pertaining to storm emergency response or any hot topic that needs to be communicated.
Coordinate security for equipment/ trucks parked in areas of high crime by working with local police and assessing what measures can be utilized to reduce theft or vandalism.
Conduct joint training with local fire departments on aerial rescue by climbing and with bucket trucks, very important in areas with small volunteer departments.
Conducted annual medical flight rescue training, I developed this with the help of Boston Med Flight when crews were working in remote areas and rescue by helicopter would be needed for life threatening events.
Responsible for 20 utility line clearance crews under contract with National Grid Electric in Rhode Island and S.E.
Massachusetts.
Worked closely with utility management to provide a safe, professional work force and maintain a reliable electric system for the utility customers.
Provided all training required to new hires plus veteran employees, CPR/FA, certified flagger/traffic control, electrical hazard awareness training and more.
Responded to storm emergencies in the US and Canada to assist in restoration efforts.
Patrolled electrical circuits per utility management, reported hazardous conditions and damaged equipment.
