With reference to the advertisement posted on LinkedIn dated January 23, 2015, I am applying for the Engineer, at Parcus Medical, LLC. I have a total work experience of 1 year and 4 months in the bioengineering field. Currently I am completing my final semester at the University of Toledo with expectations to graduate in May 2015 with a B.S. in Bioengineering (focus in biomechanics) and minor in Business Administration.
A requirement of all engineering students at the University of Toledo is that three co-ops must be completed prior to graduation. During the course of my undergraduate career I was able to complete four co-ops, three of which were within the medical device industry. The main roles and responsibilities that I undertook ranged from the initial planning and feasibility phase to the design transfer and product release to market. I was also responsible for completing multiple projects simultaneously in order to meet deadlines. Throughout this experience I worked daily with both SolidWorks and Unigraphics, becoming proficient in each by the end of my term. By my third semester with this company I was managing my own project as well as supporting multiple efforts by other engineers within the product development group. One of my proudest achievements during my co-op was the opportunity to gain cadaveric experience during which I assisted surgeons and explained the design intent behind multiple instruments which I had prototyped. My fourth co-op focused on researching biotechnology. My main responsibility during this experience was protocol creation, execution of the protocol, and reporting the results for my supervisors.
According to the eligibility criteria in the job posting, I believe I fulfill all aspects. I have a unique self-driven style of working and possess well-developed problem solving techniques. I also find importance in creating and building relationships not only internally but also externally with the customer. I enjoy working in a cross-functional team with my peers as I believe this is the most effective way to analyze a problem from all possible sides. I believe that planning and organization are necessary qualities needed to complete projects in a timely matter, especially when deadlines are of utmost importance. Throughout my work experience I have demonstrated that the quality of my work is not diminished by overbearing deadlines or problems that may arise along the path to completing a project.
