01/2015 to 05/2015 Editorial Intern Hour Detroit Magazine | City, STATE,

Hour Detroit Magazine expanded my feature writing. Writing articles for the magazine expanded my process in structuring my stories in a different way from the Press & Guide. While fact checking articles for print, I also compiled arts and entertainment listings. I worked with Hour’s art directors and metro Detroit businesses when assigned A-List Products articles. Working on the A-List products pages allowed me to act as a producer.

Along with writing articles, I observed editors and writers pitch stories. The team working at Hour is always an issue ahead. They always had developing stories of metro Detroit’s up and coming as well as the city’s best.

01/2015 to 05/2015 News Desk Intern WDIV - Local 4 | City, STATE,

As a news desk intern at WDIV – Local 4, I learned that assignment editors are the backbone of news stories. I started everyday by calling police and fire stations, and was soon helping with breaking news. Assignment editors must have their ears open at all times. Answering the phones, listening to scanners, and communicating with the rest of the newsroom.

Aside from the assignment desk, I assisted with producing. While working with the producer of the noon show, I observed how she determined the importance of each story and worked with the news desk to verify the correct information. She allowed me to write news scripts for the noon show that were used by the anchors.
