Started working for US Cellular in 1990. Worked my way from Service Technician to Network Switch Engineer during my 22.5 years with the company. From 2000 to 2003 I managed two Switch locations in Stevens Point and LaCrosse Wisconsin. I spent 6 months as a Team lead for LTE installation and deployment in Milwaukee (2012). SME for inventory control and trained fellow employees on new audit system. I have received many certificates of achievement for training classes attended during my time with US Cellular. Completed 4 years of school while working full time. Graduated in January, 2012 from University of Phoenix.
I worked with multiple vendors during two building upgrades at our Appleton office. This included multiple vendors for the building and equipment vendors for network devices. We were responsible for following building blueprints for equipment placement. This was a major project that took place in 2005 and 2006.
I also have supervisory experience relating to fiber vendors and placement of fiber facilities into our building as well as connecting the fiber to our equipment for IPBH. I also worked with a vendor for a building addition at my previous switch office in Stevens Point. This involved a building addition and electrical work.
I have attended many training classes relating to the equipment we were working with and maintaining. I have many certifications relating to the completed courses. I also spent 4 years going to school where I received my Associates and Bachelors Degrees.
We are responsible for working autonomously and it is our personal responsibility to complete all tasks and assigned work with no local supervision. We took this a step further while on-call and and were responsible for three Switch locations in Wisconsin.
As a Network Switch Engineer, we are responsible for daily activities such as building new trunks, checking and trouble shooting alarms and trouble tickets assigned to us. We have routine maintenance activities we must complete for daily, weekly,and monthly PM's. We also work with vendors during upgrades to equipment, building modifications, electrical upgrades, concrete work, and all phases of the construction process, that relate to our buildings. We are also responsible for software work as it relates to the provisioning of network routers for circuit installs and decommissions on Cisco and Alcatel/Lucent equipment.
As a cell site technician we were responsible for all cell site routine maintenance. Trouble shooting customer issues relating to cell site performance and radio access.This included PM's and inventory audits as well as supervising vendors during the construction process relating to generator installation, transfer switch installation, and concrete work. We also worked with vendors for microwave radio and dish installation.
The job of the install and service technician included the installation of 3 watt analog mobile phones. This included the removal and reinstallation process when customers were upgrading their vehicles.
