I chose to study Psychology out of my desire to learn more about the internal workings of the human mind to someday help others gain insight into their own minds to help overcome obstacles related to mental health. I have extensive experience both in my personal and professional life interacting with those who suffer the debilitating symptoms and effects of mental illness. My own personal experience interacting with those who suffer debilitating symptoms of mental illness inspired me to develop and further my education in the field of psychology. I would one day like to enroll in a graduate program to further my education in the field of counseling psychology and obtain licensure in this field. Professionally I have acquired five plus years of experience as a Mental Health Worker and Activities coordinator at an assistant living facility for those suffering persistent and severe mental illness. Ive taken pride in working with and supported clients in taking a direct approach in developing their own care plans and goals. This experience has provided me with an understanding of the importance in facilitating the client taking an active role in their own desired treatment outcomes and goals while successfully learning to manage their overall mental healt and wellbeing. I have extensive experience in case management, documentation and crisis intervention strategies.
