I operated 14 different networks when I began, through network migration and network consolidation; My Team, which consisted of one (myself), eliminated nine outdated networks in placed for 5 updated powerful systems. Bringing the company from 1970's technology into the 21st century. High speed wireless did not exist, only two dial up computer in the lobby. Now it is in every room.
The Hyatt was where I lived for nearly one year. Beginning at 11:00 pm night audit and of course the hotel never sleeps. 24/7. Every area of the hotel from the Marina to the revolving restaurant at the top was upgraded. A four star hotel became a five star after all of the upgrades.
Seven restaurants, 4 lounges, 8 banquet halls, room service, the kitchen, security, shipping and receiving, front desk, concierge, sales and marketing, Laundry, Spa, Executive offices, two separate in room television networks. Just to mention a few.
The crux - Lightening, and quite a great deal in Florida 7 months of the year, with a failing generator when lightning strikes would occur every computer system and individual terminals needed to be reset. Often some would blow up literally.
I gave my heart and soul to the Hyatt, I performed so well I was offered the MIS Director position at the Boca Resorts Hotel, a property nearly 10 time larger. I had to decline because they refused to give me a staff. I put in hundreds maybe over a thousand hours without compensation, always with the promise of a raise but more importantly support personnel. It never happened. Although I do feel very good about my work ethics and I believe that what I accomplished is absolutely astonishing. Because I truly cared I put the company's interest ahead of my own, dug in and got the job done and done well.
