Once accepting this position, I jumped right into the job and hit the ground running for about a month before going into FMT mid September. Once I returned from FMT, I started building a new trainging program for engineers and conductors together to be in the simulator with two monitors providing a more realistic cab feel. In doing so, I met my employees and was able to build positive relationships along with learning the territory.
Hired on as a conductor in Clinton, IA. Once finished with my new hire training, I was forced to Boone, IA where I moved to and worked injury free, and incident free for six plus years. I took the promotion to engineer as soon as possible in Jan. 2008, and worked until the economy forced me to be cut back. Once cut back, I learned the footboard yardmaster jobs and helped improve all reporting numbers for the terminal.
Directed crews of 25 employees with the implementation of new energy efficient lighting throughout the entire state of IL. Retro-fitted every school, librabry, and day-care with products paid for by government grants. Developed two week work schedules and help profit the company over $3 mil. in a single summer. Worked service work during the rest of the year with a bucket truck.
