I was involved in the Army ROTC program as well as the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the American Association of Drilling Engineers (AADE)
I had also begun taking graduate level courses after my graduation.
Field Work - Spent the summer of 2012 in California learning different aspects of the oil & gas industry at both onshore and offshore facilities. Worked with major companies such as Weatherford, Occidental Petroleum Corporation, Helmerich & Payne, Venoco, and Schlumberger. Spent the summer of 2013 in northwestern Colorado and parts of Utah. The purpose of this field session was to further improve necessary skills in the oil & gas industry. Spent time around gas lines and pumping facilities.
Projects - Worked in a team to determine the most efficient and cost effective wind turbine for a local small business to become more energy independent. Included written reports, oral presentations, product drawings in SolidWorks and by hand, and scale model of the product.
Worked in a team to design a new athletic facility for the Colorado School of Mines. Project
entailed zoning and building restriction requirements, geological survey reports, and basic
structural design requirements all within a restricted budget. Included written reports, oral
