In the Shop and Truck Shop same plan of approach except in now we implement the Back shop/Planners locomotive plan of action of all Federal and Company inspection PI, AI, B1, FI, M2, and M3s. This is also where the bulk of the heavy work is performed such as changing out major components like Traction Motors, Turbos, Power Assemblies, Radiators, Fans, Grids and every other Electrical/Mechanical Component that needs to get troubleshooted, repaired or changed. I have acquired skills in all critical areas of the Mechanical Department's day to day operations.
Perform scheduled mechanical inspections and routine maintenance in compliance with FRA (Federal Railroad Administration), company and industry standards on GE (General Electric) and EMD (Electro Motive Diesel) Locomotives.
Perform routine maintenance and servicing such as air brake cleaning and testing, and engine air filter changing, and fueling
repair locomotive electrical systems and write reports on maintenance and repair works. Perform emergency repairs to locomotives. Replaced locomotive and diesel engine components including but not limited to wheels or trucks, traction motors, springs, couplers, draft gear assembly, gear cases, cylinder heads, air compressors, and turbo chargers. Performs daily service of locomotive units: fuels, waters, lubricates and oils; wipes down and cleans unit/windows; checks supplies and drinking water. Maintain written and computer records for maintenance and repairs as required.
