Served the Village of Glencoe over an 18-year period in progressively senior roles, including:
Managed Building & Zoning Division:
- Oversaw day-to-day operations encompassing the following functions: planning, zoning, building, permitting, inspections, code enforcement, forestry, and historic preservation
- Led successful transition to an outsourced model for all building and fire/life safety plan reviews and inspections
- Managed Village contracts for outsourcing and directed the work performed by consultants for land planning and plan review/inspections
- Directed and assigned work to administrative staff performing front-line building permit operations
- Assisted with annual budget preparation, forecasting, and monitoring
- Integrated technology into a culture reliant on paper-based records. This included an ERP configuration and relaunched Village website
Administered Zoning and Village Code Regulations:
- Advised residents, commercial real estate brokers, design professionals, business owners, and Village officials on technical and complex zoning, building, municipal code regulations, laws, and standards
- Served as principal point of contact for development inquiries, including applicants pursuing design review, subdivision, zoning variations, special use permits, and historic landmark status
- Managed pending applications through the required review/approval process from start to finish
- Administered enforcement of Village codes and ordinances pertaining to land use, building/zoning, property maintenance, tree preservation, building permits, escrow deposits, and construction site management

Provided Ongoing Expertise and Support to Village Boards and Commissions:
- Served as assigned staff expert to the Plan Commission, Historic Preservation Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, Contextual Design Review Commission, and Sustainability Working Group
- Collaborated with chairpersons of public bodies on pending matters, special assignments, and referrals from the Village Board

Interfaced with Business Community:
- Provided hands-on assistance to new and existing businesses as a key member of the Village’s Business Services Team
- Implemented business-friendly initiatives, including quarterly Business Before Hours networking breakfasts and streamlined review/approval processes to advance strategic priorities of the Village Board
- Assisted with relaunch and rebranding of the farmers market leading to increased participation and attendance

Led Outreach Activities:
- Collaborated routinely with senior staff from the Library, Park District, School District, and Chicago Botanic Garden to implement community projects
