I created four pilot programs that focused on persons 60 and over, Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Program participants, and those that provide care to others due to age and/or mental or physical challenges. Each program promotes individualized opportunities for personal growth and reflection through artistic expression.
I developed the Aging Picasso's Art for All Program to proactively address social isolation, increase recognition of self-worth, and provide an avenue for self-expressionism.
In an effort to build trust, provide bonding opportunities, and enhance inter-generational experiences, I established the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Wednesday Fun-Day Community Workshop. This program encouraged interaction between youth and elder generations in a warm, sharing environment that provided rewarding outcomes through relationship building based upon mutual trust and respect.
To address caregivers within the community, through the support of my CEO, I was able to establish Caregiver Creations. This 2-hour respite provides opportunities for peer-to-peer communications, supportive processes and information, and creativity. Participants are encouraged to exchange ideas, share resources or choose to simply participate in their own form of respite.
Finally, I have another new program designed to focus on Social Isolation among those in Assisted Living and Long Term Care Facilities. This service, aptly titled "Coffee Clatch" will be hosted in a local community center and the host will provide coffee and light bakery items and join together to discuss current events, learn about new technology and enjoy fellowship with others.
