  • Work with a team of four Financial Aid Officers and two Accountants under direct supervision of the Financial Aid Manager and Associate Director to ensure compliance with the University's guidelines.
  • Independently assess petitions with extenuating mitigating circumstances for reinstatement for scholarship awards.
  • Handle daily requests such as analyzing and evaluating financial viability of students and families, and provide exceptional advice and counseling regarding available financial aid opportunities, eligibility requirements, and application processes.
  • Evaluate hundreds of applicants for the Presidential and Regents Scholarship based on merit and professional/personal achievements within their lives and community.
  • Evaluate, approve and award financial aid to students in accordance with all UNM and state laws, policies, and regulations.

  • Actively respond to online and in person inquiries, research, and resolve problems related to transactions handled by the Scholarship Department through UNM's banner system.
