Other responsibilities include facility infrastructure projects such as road paving, storm water drainage improvements, pedestrian pathways and the creation of green space within facility.
Prepare permit applications for all air permits (PSD permits, Title V permits), NPDES permits (waste water and storm water), wetland permits, storage tank permits, groundwater monitoring permits, groundwater consumptive use permits and potable water system permits.
Ensure that all required sampling is completed (storm and waste water, air emission testing, hazardous waste, blood lead, lead paint, PCB, indoor air quality, and asbestos).
Supervise the operation and maintenance of emission control systems, industrial waste water treatment systems, sanitary sewer system, storm water management systems, process water systems and potable water systems.
Manage the solid and hazardous waste storage and disposal programs, including the testing of waste streams and the development of alternate disposal methods, with an emphasis on recycling.

Manage infrastructure (roadways, water distribution systems, storm water drainage, and waste water) to ensure that they are operating properly and to ensure that repairs are completed in a timely fashion and within budget.
Manage on-site lakes and forested areas, including wetland mitigation area.
Accomplishments: Implemented program to screen legacy dirt piles to recover ferrous metal which resulted in a net savings of $500,000 Achieved Brownfield designation for facility.
Negotiated alternative risk based remediation solution for soil and groundwater contamination after Florida Department of Environmental Protection approved Consent Decree for construction of onsite landfill.
Managed environmental compliance programs (CWA, CAA, RCRA, and CERCLA) at the Jacksonville complex, which consists of three facilities (processing plant, feed mill, and hatchery), to ensure compliance with all permits and applicable regulations.

Prepared permit applications for NPDES (waste water & stormwater) permits and storage tank permits.
Supervised the operation and maintenance of industrial waste water treatment system, water supply infrastructure, and hazardous and solid waste storage and disposal programs.
Managed consultants and contractors working on environmental remediation and capital projects Accomplishments: Developed environmental closure plan for the closing of the Jacksonville Complex.
Reduced sludge disposal costs by an average of $2,000 per month.
Developed environmental database to track environmental activities.
Proactively established installation of new equipment and procedures to reduce environmental risk and to prevent loss in production due to equipment failures.
Reduced positive salmonella tests by 50% due to contributions to salmonella reduction team.
Led water minimization team and tracked daily water usage in order to reduce cost and identify areas for improvement.
The team reduced the average water usage from 8.24 gallons to 6.9 gallons per bird.
Managed hazardous materials/hazardous waste storage and disposal programs.
Conducted audits and inspections of environmental control systems and facilities.
Supervised consultants and contractors working on environmental capital projects and emergency response activities.

Accomplishments: Supervised hazardous materials cleanup of train derailment at Crescent City, Florida.
Completed cleanup ahead of schedule by coordinating cleanup crew activities with NTSB and FRA investigation teams.
Participated in environmental database development team.
Worked with regulators in Florida to develop waste water sample program to determine cause of numerous permit violations.
The success of this program prevented the regulators from issuing a notice of violation for the permit violations.
Increased communication on environmental issues among craft and salaried employees.
