Emissions Test Cell Technician/OBD Test Technician, 09/2015 - Current
Allison Transmission New York City, NY, Prep and de-prep of vehicles for COP, IUVP and SHED testing. Setup, operation, and removal of vehicles on chassis dynamometer. Setup of testing equipment, software, and test specific instrumentation. Often troubleshooting errors within the various test control interfaces. Removal and installation of canisters for loading station. General light mechanical work to support the various testing within the lab. Daily and weekly maintenance of test cells; zero/span gasses, propane injection, and checking over equipment.  In addition, I am also responsible for OBD II CARB compliance testing. Utilizing J1699-3 test sequence on all emissions relevant ECU's within the BMW, MINI and Rolls Royce line's. This testing involves a great deal of troubleshooting the vehicles reactions in relation to setting various faults and subsequently repairing them. Each test has to pass without failures, which can take multiple re-tests, trail and error, & diagnosing problems before a procedure is developed that is passable.There is a lot of collaboration between myself and various engineers to develop real world procedures for these tests, as all of the original procedures are developed with HIL simulations and not all variables are seen in the simulations.

Thermal Data Imaging Technician, 09/2014 - 2014

Operated and troubleshot in-vehicle thermal imaging software. Worked with advanced sensors, cloud computing and GPS equipment in correlation with Google earth. Oversight of the software/equipment and navigating the vehicle's driver. Installed and maintained sensory equipment. Debugging of computer and electronic systems.
This was a short term winter based project. During the middle of the project the project manager was fired and the director of the project asked me to oversee the midnight shift and to make sure shift changes went smoothly.  Subsequently a year later when the project was slated to start again the CEO of the company contacted me via LinkedIn and asked if I would manage the entire project for the 2015 season.  Unfortunately I had already accepted a new position at BMW in California and was preparing to relocate.
Test Cell Technician, 08/2014 - 02/2015
Continental Teves City, STATE, I was originally working a temporary position via MDE International, where I was just driving traces in a small 2 cell lab but had no other responsibilities. In less than a week I felt it was incredibly inefficient and offered to do more in exchange for training. The manager was very receptive to this as it increased the number of tests that could be done. Within a few weeks I was running the emissions tests on the dyno, installing thermocouples, taking measurements, removing and replacing catalytic converters, raw sampling, learning to troubleshoot VETS, various software programs, and anything they were willing to show me. Within 2 months I was covering 100% of the work for technicians when they went on vacation. I also opened and closed the lab depending on need at the time. Unfortunately the irregular schedule would not work in the long run and they were unable to guarantee 40 hours a week. Before leaving I showed the technicians how to use Excell a bit better and helped them track trends in the lab for reporting and greater efficiency.
Summer Park Ranger, 04/2014 - 05/2015

This was a seasonal position that I took on as more of a hobby during the summer. I enjoyed seeing our summer crews grow and gain more confidence in their skills all while "playing" in the great outdoors.  When The state of Michigan leased Belle Isle Park in 2014, I jumped at the chance to be a part of the improvements. During the 1st season I quickly took on a leadership role. I was given the responsibility to oversee 75-100 laborers on a daily basis. Along with facility maintenance that included everything from minor plumbing to building repair. I also worked on removing dead trees, landscaping, painting, troubleshooting pump houses, electrical repairs, equipment repairs, trail maintenance, wildlife containment or sometimes rescue, and organizing work shops. Additionally, I was tasked with operating and training others on the use of hand, power tools, skid steer, tractors, and ztrak mowers. Assisting contractors for project bidding, dealing with the public, selling permits,  enforcement of state laws within the park, and of course customer service. Lastly, I often filled in leading entire shifts when there was not a Lead Ranger on duty. Frequently the park supervisor called on me to take on tasks normally reserved for Lead Rangers as he knew I could handle the many variables in any situation I faced.

Accomplishments During the summer: I was able to refine a shelter rental/cleaning schedule that allowed for a proactive approach rather than reactive and reduced customer complaints. I was also able to build an efficient and effective task assignment schedule that allowed for an increase in productivity for laborers. Gained approval, implemented, and oversaw a project to refurbish each of the 100-150 picnic tables and fishing prep tables throughout the entire park. At the end of the year, this was seen as one of the most welcomed and visible improvements to the park and was cited in many news articles.

I was responsible for training as well as scheduling drivers. This also developed into training and scheduling drivers for out other jobs at various companies. In my position as a Shift supervisor I maintained a cohesive environment, in which everyone worked as a team. Over the 8 years with MDE I had helped my employer with many last minute projects and had always taken a pro-active approach in order to insure MDE's clients receive the best results and outstanding performance.

As an added note. My work history can be hard to understand.  There are many overlapping dates at various companies.  This is due to working at 2 or 3 different companies at the same time & having a strong sense of loyalty and responsibility to help out various bosses when they needed extra help. I also had many engineers who over the years would ask my bosses specifically for me or call me directly for their projects, so quite often I was working at multiple companies.
