In addition to my responsibilities within the maintenance department, I work as a responder to emergencies on our site and as a volunteer within the community as an Emergency Medical Service provider. On site, I specialize in Firefighting, Hazardous Materials Management, Technical rope rescue, Confined Space Search and Rescue, as well as obtain a certificate within the state of Nevada as an Emergency Medical Technician. With my team, I have participated in a Global Mine Rescue Summit during the month of September 2016 where mine rescue members from all over the world come together and have our skills in all avenues of Emergency Response tested through various life threatening scenarios, including but not limited to structural collapse confined space search and rescue, structural fire fighting, mass casualty incident management, and breaking through language barriers to as one complete unit participate in the remodeling and Extreme Makeover of a time worn Vaughn Middle School in Reno, Nevada. This was part of a community service outreach program.
