Utilizing my broad range of skills in video, audio and computer hardware & software, I established my own professional-grade DVD Authoring business in 2012.
Following a period as Sony DADC's freelance authoring engineer, I became their full-time authoring engineer in August 2011. My main role was authoring DVDs, as well as a number of HDMV Blu-Ray discs. With my broad range of post-production skills I was frequently called upon to assist in other areas of the DVD/BD production process, such as capture, compression & transcoding.
Following a six year period as Blink Digital's DVD Authoring Manager, I worked as a freelance compression & authoring engineer, both on my own premises and on-site for companies including HBO and Sony DADC.
In 2003 I moved from London to New York to take on the position of DVD Authoring Manager at Blink Digital. Here I was responsible for authoring high-end DVDs for clients such as Disney, HBO, Sony Music, A&E and BBC America.
After originally launching my DVD career at Two Plus One in 2001, I returned to the company in 2002 to assume the position of Head of DVD. In this role I was responsible for project management, weekly meetings with our main client - Paramount Home Entertainment - and training, supervision & management of a team of DVD authors, compression engineers & designers.
In this role I was able to work with a wider range of clients such as Warner-vision and Universal Music, with more creative freedom than had been possible with my previous employer. I was responsible for creating design and functionality concepts in addition to my compression & authoring work. I enjoyed working closely with the clients and seeing my ideas become the template used for many future Universal Music DVD releases.
During this period I was based in New York City, working as a consultant for a start-up company involved in online video streaming.
