I am a dedicated, patient-focused, team-oriented RN who has established a career as a primary care nurse. Over the last ten years my roles have included: Out patient nurse, Triage nurse, IM clinic nurse, quality-team member, Director of Nursing, and District School Nurse. This varied experience has given me a passion for helping patients achieve their wellness goals. These roles combined with my current Master's education have only solidified my belief that Nurse Practitioners are critical to filling unique care needs in our communities. I currently seek an opportunity to transfer to the Texas Tech Nurse Practitioner program. This opportunity will allow me to contribute to the wellness in my community. My goal after graduation is to join the Veterans' Administration team as a Nurse Practitioner. I feel strongly about giving back to the military community as these men and women have sacrificed so much to serve others. My long term goal is to join a direct-payer model. I am excited to contribute to a clinical model that has improved access to medical care, reduce health care costs, and improved patient satisfaction.
I am currently the district nurse for a rural public health system where I support and train nurses, health aides, and special education staff for 2700 well students and 260 students on IEPs and 504s. I am also a Child Health Care Consultant for three Early Education Schools that are affiliated with our school district. My duties include:
