  • I write estimates for customers when they come to the shop.
  • If the vehicle is repairable I am involved in the Pre-Op phase and draft a repair plan.
  • If the customer is in need of a rental car while the vehicle is in the shop I assist in the procurement of one.
  • I upload the estimate and photos to the respective insurance company.
  • If it is a DRP partner then I begin the parts ordering process and followed up by the scheduling of the work.
  • While the customer's car is in the shop I call them every day to keep them adequately informed of the progress we are making.
  • Once parts arrive I post the parts against the RO so I can keep track of missing or delayed parts.
  • If additional damages are found I add them to the estimate as a supplement and contact the adjuster/appraiser and give them the option to re-inspect or allow us to continue repairs.
  • Once the repairs are complete and the vehicle has gone through the QC checks and clean-up for delivery I do a final walk around to ensure that we did everything that we said we do the correct way.
  • I then pre-close the file making sure all labor has been posted as well as all parts.
  • I also take that time to send the supplement, invoices and photographs to the insurance company so they can send a check and close their file as well.
  • Then I call the customer for delivery and when they arrive I deliver the car to them by going out with the customer to make sure that they have no concerns prior to departure.
Independent Damage Appraiser
November 2012 to November 2013
Diamond National - Mulvane, KS
  • I traveled the Northern 1/2 of IN inspecting claimed damages to automobiles, light trucks, heavy trucks, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, motorcycles, watercraft and recreational vehicle.
  • I accurately assess the damages and create a computer generated estimate.
  • I also photographed the damages for verification and then get an agreed price with the owner's repair facility of choice.
  • I then create a report describing the damages and the status of the claim and send it to the office to be sent to the adjuster of record, the shop and the owner.
  • I utilized the appropriate parts and follow each individual provider's specific guidelines when creating the estimate.
  • I am familiar with the part laws in the state of IN as well as the salvage part suppliers.
  • I have also created a network for aftermarket and hard to find parts as well.
  • My estimate is a visual inspection only and sometimes there are additional damages noted during repairs.
  • Once I am contacted regarding the supplement I re-inspected the vehicle, obtain additional photographs as well as invoices and complete the supplemental request and send it in to the adjuster to issue the additional check.
