Relevant Skills
-Rowed all 4 years; earned a full athletic scholarship by my second year.
-Self motivated, disciplined and hard-working with the ability to learn new things quickly.
Captain of the Year & MVP
-Constantly encouraging and pushing my teammates to be better and
work harder. Not only leading by example but also verbal leadership.
-Initiated Captain's practices, voluntary practices held by me during off season & 8 hour weeks.
-Pushed for new team standards of commitment; no drinking during season.
-Led team to first Gold and Silver medal at multiple races.
Student Athlete Advisory Committee Representative
-Chosen to represent my team on behalf of the athletic department, help initiate change within teams.
-Encouraged outside team support, other teams would be rewarded points if they attended other sporting games. Points led to end of year prize.
Newcomer of the Year
-Working my way up to the varsity boat within the first month of ever rowing.
-Took on leadership roles early in my career, helping other freshman and novice get in better shape. Teammates would come to me to help them improve strength and endurance.
Mentor
- Asked by my Juinor High School to come back and talk to the students about leadership and
college athletics.
-Influenced young students to take rowing lessons and step outside their comfort zone of sports.
