I have worked for the City of College Park for 20 years as of the date. I am a hard working employee. I have skills in being a laborer to being a supervisor for the City. I have been in charge of a department as a fill in supervisor for Buildings and Grounds. I started as a temporary employee for the city and worked my way through the ranks to become a crew lead, meter reader, laborer and code compliance officer. I have worked on countless number of projects within the city. While working as a laborer for the water department, which i also started as a temporary employee, i worked on the crew that added water meters and service for the building of the Georgia International Convention Center. I was able to learn how to operate heavy machinery such as backhoe, front end loader, and other heavy equipment. I was able to learn and assist in the city's effort to replace galvanized piping for sewer system to PVC piping on numerous occasions as neede. I was part of the crew that tapered the water lines within the city to build the fifth runway project for the airport. I have worked at the city's Lift Station as a laborer, and participated in the cleanup for the flooding that happened. I also was apart of the crew that put in remote reading water meters for the city.
In my tenure as a meter reader I participated in adding ERT meters throughout the city. I was responsible for reading a route that included at least 200 meters of water and electric meters for billing daily. I achieved certifications and was allowed to attend school to obtain those certifications through the City. At times it was a responsibility to replace broken meters as well as non working. Commercial route reading was apart of our scheduling. The most time i have with the City is in Buildings and Grounds division. I started as a temporary employee returning to the city and worked my way up to become Crew Lead. I was able to obtain many skills using tractors, zero turns, and all hand tools needed to perform. I was apart of major cleanups throughout the city, one in particular when a tree was struck by a bad storm and fell on a residents car. I assisted in removing and the cleanup process to get this resident back to normal. I worked closely with the removal of the tree in front of the City's auditorium under the direction of my Superintendent. When those who were in charge of the department was away, I was awarded the opportunity to run the department in their absence. I was able to gain as much knowledge as possible while in that position, how to do budgets, time for employees. My time with the city I have been able to gain a Pesticide License, Flagger License, spill certification, arborist training(class), leadership and management classes. I have the ability to learn and adapt to make my job safe and accurate.
