Screen and review immunization records to select required immunizations, correct dosages, and administer oral, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular immunizations to all age groups, Obtain information from patient and/or family to identify major complaints, symptoms, or reason for seeking health care, Provide individualized nursing care to patients of all ages based upon the physician's medical plan, the nursing assessment and the physical, mental and emotional needs of the patient, Take vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, pain level, height, weight, measurement of head circumference and length); perform a behavioral health screening.
Provides support to Lead NP, other NP's, and Occupational Health RN. Lead nurse in running the student and employee clinics on campus and in charge of ensuring that all nurses and medical assistants are working efficiently within their scope of practice. I also review immunization records of future/current students and employees to ensure that they are up to date with CDC and Ut Health immunization guidelines, documents clinic and patient milestones and progress that is required to sustain the CMS contract payments. Triage walk-in patients, taking vital signs and builds a positive report with the patient. Ensures exam rooms are properly stocked and monitor inventory. Educates patients and participates in campus wellness and community events. Assist N.P with gynecological procedures and minor surgeries. Sexual wellness teaching to all students or employees. Monitors the employee and student in box within the EMR system and responds to patient communication notes and sends medication refill requests to the provider on staff. Also in charge of the student needle stick and exposure visits and making sure that the students stay compliant with the Ut Health Needle stick/Exposure protocol. I was the Preceptor for any new employees in the department and I have trained 4 new Licensed Vocational Nurses, 3 RN Occupational Health nurses and 1 Medical assistant within this facility.
Work under the supervision of an MD collecting vital signs, patient history, lab specimens, and performing diagnostic tests and procedures for patients, assist doctor with gynecological procedures, scheduling future appointments for patients, diabetic & anticoagulant diet and medication teaching, overlooking and ordering new office supplies when needed, assisting with diagnostic well child exams obtaining level of vision and hearing also administration of vaccines to children ages 2weeks to 17years old, I have also trained 5 new medical assistants in this facility.
