Since arriving in Florida 38 years ago, I have spent numerous hours at play on the beaches here on the the Guff Coast. On about the third year living here, I ran into a lady that was collecting fossilized shark teeth on the beach. After seeing what she was finding and hearing a little bit about each specimen, I too began searching for them. After awhile I was finding any where from 3lbs up to 5lbs. of fossilized shark teeth per day. I was actually in the Venice Gondolier newspaper for the largest amount found on a regular basis. I found and collected beautiful seashells and with them , made beautiful center pieces for tables, fun animals using the various shells and from the sharks teeth came jewelry. I also sold them by the pound to buyers that in return, would sell them around the world. I have always been interested in helping to find a way to get rid of the annual Red Tide that develops in the water and kills way too many of types of marine life and the creatures that dwell within.
Always interested and enthusiastic about trying new things and also trying different ways to do similar things and then to implement them in different scenarios and different aspects of my life. (a bit of a nerd )
During the years 1991 till 1997 I opened my own little shop inside the Dome Flea Market in Englewood, Florida. I had been collecting fossilized sharks teeth for quite some time as well as gathering seashells and one day I sat down and decided to see if I could make things from the seashells and also make jewelry with the sharks teeth. It ended up being a very successful short business. I created handmade items such as dining room table pieces, plaques and pictures, animal figures as well as jewelry boxes that were decorated to the hilt with pretty little seashells etc. I ended up selling completely out of everything I had made and that is when my husband began thinking about us opening a small remodeling company. I t was a lot of fun having my little business who's name was"Classic Sea Creations", I considered myself to be very fortunate at that time because I was doing something I completely loved and making money was just an added bonus. My sister who was also very fond of fossil hunting and making jewelry , and I had pretty much become a tourist attraction every year while all the tourist flocked to the beaches to get their share of teeth and fossil and it became an every day occurrence to hear one of them waving their arms calling hers or my name to ask us what they had just found on the beach.
