Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
While in college, two of my fraternity brothers and I created a program: 1) Raise voter awareness 2) Increase Voter Turnout 3) Raise funds for March of Dimes/March for Babies 4) Raise funds for the chapter and 5) Fulfill programming requirements of our fraternity. There were only three members (including myself) in the fraternity at the time, but the program in it\'s first year drew a crowd of 400 students, staff, and faculty, raised $1,000 in funds for the chapter, and $300 in donation funds for the March for Babies/March of Dimes. We accomplished our goal and pushed through many obstacles to succeed. The chapter has grown since, with 15 members currently in college. Recently, the fourth edition of this program was executed, leading to over 3,000 students, staff, faculty, family, and friends, over $4,000 in funds for the the chapter, and over $1,500 in funds for the March for Babies/March of Dimes. I feel so proud that I helped in creating a program that emphasizes an important civil duty and raises awareness for underdeveloped infants and infant mortality.
