Motivated engineer looking for a position in the engineering field where my skills and hard work will provide quality services. I am also interested in challenging positions that require growth and a open mind.
While working for the WVDOH, my main location for work was on the New River Gorge Bridge in Fayetteville, West Virginia. My duties including administering inspections all over the bridge, writing progress reports each day, organizing all documentation, and drafting areas of the structure for references of changes made. To inspect the bridge, I repelled in a Spider Basket for the outside of the substructure. Inspections inside the arch, bents, catwalk, and in the beams, were completed by walking and climbing. For the superstructure, I inspected patchwork on the concrete deck, barriers, abutments, skewbacks, and pedestals. After ever shift I completed a progress report on Site Manager to relay all completed work from that day. Each day I had a new location on the structure, which required new knowledge and WVDOH requirements from plans. Furthermore, every day I had to adjust and learn new material or building on already known knowledge. Being safety conscious and fast paced for continuation of work was a priority for deadline.
At New River Engineering, Inc. my responsibilities consist of HCA Integrity Projects, pipeline drawings, Steep Slope Plans, WVDEP permitting actions, as-builts for surface mine operations, as-builts on pipelines, general survey work-ups, surveying (transit and GPS), end of month reports and Preliminary Jurisdictional Determinations. I am solely in charge of HCA integrity projects and they include staying in continuous contact with engineers on the project, design packages specified to the project and its location, utilizing states 811 program to ensure the project doesn't disturb any other utilities, work up preliminary and final surveys, AGM datasheets (if for a wireline inspection), as-builts at the end of projects, scheduling surveys, creating stakeouts, and anything else the client desires. Our client(s) sometimes have other projects on pipelines that I will work on, but I am mostly involved with HCA Integrity Projects. Steep Slope Plans are for pipeline projects and assess slopes on the work site. The plan includes calculations to determine safety according to equipment lists provided by the client, survey work-ups to show the area as a plan view, profile displaying slope percentages and identifying no work zones, a narrative to include all information on the project, consistent contact with clients, and working with our surveyors on the job. I have assisted in WVDEP permitting actions that include Article 3 permit renewals, SMA's, NPDES reissuances, Community Impact Statements, transfers, as-builts, and anything else that is needed. PJD projects include surveying streams, utilizing AutoCAD to show stream locations on drawings, photo documentation, determining types of streams, and a narrative including all information pertaining to the project. I have surveyed using Transit and GPS System on surface mines for many different needs and work up many surveys brought back from field work. Each month NREI has a list of clients that want end of month production/stockpile reports. In all, I work up stockpiles, calculate how many tons are in each stockpile, and utilize excel to show the total of all stockpile locations. Altogether, I adjust and learn whatever I am needed for each day.
At The Thrasher Group, Inc. I conduct property survey mapping, deed descriptions, topographical surveys, design drawings, Erosion and Sediment Inspections, and Ground Penetrating Radar surveys. I serve as a team member on large lengthy projects and provide organization, projects updates, and new ideas. Using Carlson Software and AutoCAD, I am utilized for all mapping that goes through the office which allows me to acquire new knowledge on different types of projects making myself diverse. I assist in GPR surveys and create reports by interpreting the data gathered by the equipment. As an E&S inspector, I apply state standards and project design to suggest proper management practices with a final report for issues that can appear site. In conclusion, my day to day activities vary from field work to providing quality engineering mapping.
I graduated in the top 15% in my class and took classes to help advance myself in future careers. I also took vocational classes including welding, drafting, Microsoft office applications, and construction courses.
