  • Supervise Child/Family Service supervisors, specialists and support staff in the completion of their work with families involved in the child welfare system. Direct oversight of five Child/Family Service teams (35 staff) in the Southeast Service Area to include 2 Family Treatment Drug Court teams and 3 mixed assignment teams serving initial assessment investigations, alternative response, and court and non-court involved ongoing case management.
  • Provide consultation and approval on child welfare cases regarding safety, case planning, service provision, placement, referrals, letters of agreement and authorization for contracted services, case closure and all other aspects of case management.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, hiring interviews, progressive disciplinary actions and other human resource functions. Maintain point in time spreadsheet of employee positions, vacancies, trainee status, prospective hires, assigned equipment, etc.
  • Assist with development of long range plans and programs and monitoring the performance of new and existing programs and services to insure achievement of established goals and compliance with policies, procedures, directives and state/federal laws.
  • Assure accuracy and quality in delivery of programs and services to youth and families in the child welfare system. Provide input on needed services and collaborate with stakeholders. Assist in setting performance standards and developing outcome measures for child welfare.
  • Investigate and respond to complaints and concerns from citizens and stakeholders following DHHS policy and procedure. Provide information regarding results to the Governor, Legislative representatives, Office of the Inspector General and Department heads as requested.
  • Oversee placement options for youth in the care/custody of the State of Nebraska taking into considerations placement needs, treatment needs, youth and community safety, least restrictiveness and maintaining family connections.
  • Train employees on best practices/protocol, Safety Organized Practice, Structured Decision Making, drug/alcohol related subjects, child welfare, etc.
  • Represent the Department of Health and Human Services in community collaborative meetings, committees, and task forces. Assist in the development, implementation and tracking of community projects and initiatives. Serve as a liaison for the Department with state and local governmental entitiesand/or the public
  • Served as the Southeast Service Area Administrator of the Office of Juvenile services from 2012-2015. Development and oversight of the transition of all Southeast Service Area juvenile justice cases to the Administrative Office of Probation in 2015.
  • Co-Lead of the statewide implementation of the Crossover Youth Practice model with Child Family Service and Probation staff to include development of joint state policy, creation and facilitation of training for supervisory and direct line staff, presentation of Crossover programs and progress at stakeholder meetings and statewide conferences, assistance in development of local protocols across the state, tracking and analysis of progress for Crossover youth, and case conflict resolution between the agencies.
  • Serve as the Child and Family Service Administrator over the Family Treatment Drug Court teams and ensure protocols and practices are followed in accordance with local protocols, grant specifications, and national standards.
